Dry Needling Therapy

Dry Needling Therapy

At Pramukh Advance Physiotherapy Center, we offer advanced and effective treatments to help you recover from pain, muscle stiffness, and movement limitations. One of our most effective techniques is Dry Needling Therapy, a specialized treatment used to target muscle knots and trigger points, providing rapid relief and improved function.

What is Dry Needling Therapy?

Dry Needling Therapy is a technique used to treat muscular pain and dysfunction. It involves the insertion of very fine, thin needles directly into the muscle’s trigger points (tight, painful areas within muscles). Unlike acupuncture, dry needling focuses on specific areas that are causing pain and discomfort, helping to release tension, improve blood flow, and stimulate healing.

How Dry Needling Works

During Dry Needling Therapy, our experienced physiotherapists use sterile, fine needles that are inserted into the muscle's trigger points. This stimulates the muscle fibers and promotes relaxation. The treatment helps:

  • Relieve muscle pain and tightness
  • Improve blood flow and oxygenation to the affected area
  • Release muscle knots and reduce spasms
  • Enhance range of motion and flexibility
  • Accelerate the healing of soft tissue injuries

Dry needling may cause mild discomfort as the needle penetrates the muscle, but this is a normal part of the process, and most patients experience immediate relief after treatment.

Free ask question?

No, while both involve needles, Dry Needling and acupuncture are different. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine, targeting energy flow (Qi) through meridians, while Dry Needling focuses on relieving muscle pain and trigger points based on Western medicine principles.

You may feel a mild sensation of discomfort or a "twitch" in the muscle when the needle enters a trigger point, but it’s generally not painful. After treatment, you might experience some soreness in the area, similar to a muscle workout.

A typical session lasts between 20 to 30 minutes. The number of needles used and the treatment area can affect the session’s duration.

The number of sessions depends on the severity of your condition and how your body responds. Some people feel improvement after just one session, while others may require a series of treatments, often 3–6 sessions.

It’s generally recommended to avoid intense physical activity for 24–48 hours after a Dry Needling session to give your muscles time to recover. Light stretching and movement are encouraged.
